Expanding Education For Democracy

FLREA has evolved into one of the most effective and respected law-focused civic education organizations in the country.

In the landscape of civic education, what makes FLREA unique is our nonpartisan, law-focused approach.

Annette Boyd Pitts

Founding Executive Director

The Florida Law Related Education Association, Inc. (FLREA) is a non-profit, nonpartisan, law-focused civic education organization. FLREA was established in 1984 to improve justice and expand education for democracy through the development and implementation of law-related education programs for Florida youth.

The Florida Law Related Education Association, Inc. is dedicated to improving the administration of justice and strengthening democracy through practical, hands-on civics, government, and law programs for students of all ages.

What distinguishes FLREA is a grassroots, law-focused, nonpartisan approach and efforts targeted at the teachers and students of Florida. FLREA puts an emphasis on the rule of law, the American legal system, and the institutions and practices of democracy. Programs highlight civic content and methodologies to foster essential critical thinking and civil dialogue skills, teaching students how to think, not what to think.

FLREA also provides education presentations and materials for use with civic organizations and other adult education forums.
