We would like to congratulate high school students Sydney Honeycutt and Sterling Alic who were selected to represent Florida in the United States Senate Youth Program in Washington, DC.
Sydney is currently Student Body President at Santa Fe High School in Alachua County. In addition to this leadership role, Sydney also serves as Chapter Vice President of FFA, an organization for students interested in agriculture and leadership. She is a state director for the Florida Junior Brahman Association and a national director for the American Junior Brahman Association. This past summer, Sydney was crowned Queen of the American Junior Brahman Association allowing her the opportunity to advocate on a local, state, and national platform to promote the Brahman breed and the beef industry as a whole.
Sterling is a senior and Student Government President at the iPreparatory Academy in Miami-Dade County. He is also President of the Speech and Debate Club and participates in the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, English Honor Society, and Social Studies Honor Society. Sterling tutors students daily in Chinese and Math. He serves as Fundraising Chair for SHAPE (Students Helping Achieve Philanthropic Excellence) and participates in the Model United Nations. Sterling is a National AP Scholar and has received the Yale and Harvard Book Awards.
