Public policy issues like housing prices, flooding, motorcycle safety, and mental health took center stage at the 2017 Project Citizen State Finals on Friday, May 26th in West Palm Beach. Middle and high school students addressed panels of judges about issues of importance having an impact on their local community. Please join us in congratulating all teams that participated!

Middle School Winners

Hialeah Gardens Middle School won 3rd place for their Oral Hearing and Portfolio titled Home of the Free Because of the Brave.

Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K-8 won 2nd place for their Oral Hearing and Portfolio titled Child Exploitation? Not in Our Nation!

Bob Graham Education Center won Best Oral Hearing and Portfolio for their project Rising Above Sunny Day Floods. They will represent Florida in the Middle School Division at the 2017 Project Citizen National Showcase in Los Angeles, California.

High School Winners

Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High School won Best Oral Hearing with their project House Hunters: Affordability Edition.

Westland Hialeah Senior High School won Best Portfolio with their project Smoking + Healthcare Don’t Mix. They will represent Florida in the High School Division at the 2017 Project Citizen National Showcase in Los Angeles, California.
